Coin shooting school, Auckland

1hr hunt in a auckland school.

last night shot into a school in the city for an hour's hunt. Rather than going for All the good high tones I decided to dig only the mids and low tones as a bit of a experiment. I dug only one trash target the whole time and that was a pulltab. Here are my finds.

coin shooting

coin shooting ngatea school produces silver!!

Brett, steve and I went for a short road trip down to Ngatea for an evening detect. we gave the local playground and park a go over this produce nothing much so we headed to a school that I had previously done and new produced coins.Brett and steve dug plenty of coins each with Steve producig a nice silver shilling and sixpence. And here are my finds for the 2 hr dig. Two coins were stuck together and when I opend them there was a stamp on the inside, a first for me.

Happy digging!!

gold struck west coast

Gold  struck west coast !!

Today's  finds started off with Brett at Mairangi Bay on the north shore at 4am  . unfortunately the beach was sanded in :( how ever Brett and I did manage to dig some coins, between us we dug 4 thrupences a hand full of modern coins and  one silver pendant with cz diamonds ( that one was all  me) :) 7am came and brett had to head  off to work with his head bowed low from disappointment from not hitting gold :(.

The afternoon came and I got ichy feet once again, so I decided to ring Steve who was very keen after digging gold a couple days prior.
We decided to hit the park at muriwai beach, after half an hour of bad targets I started to come across coins, continued to dig a hand full of coins then I came across a very broken mid range signal which i would not normally dig, since the ground was clean and targets far and few between I procceded to dig it and you would not belive it, out popped a 9ct gold bracelet:) :) ye ha!!
 Happy detecting!!

frustration leads to gold!!

Frustration leads to large 9ct gold wedding band !!

Ever day this year has been a internal battle as to weather I should go to work or go metal detecting, now this is mostly due to Max , Brett and Steve. Thanks guys for making my life that little harder :p.
Today was no different :(. After having all 3 guys texting me several times each with ring finds, the internal fight once again raged ! And well work lost..
I had a bit of a think and decided to hit a north shore beach,I spent 3 hrs griding an area of the wet sand, dug a few targets and then bang as if slapped in the side of the face the head phones sreamed gold, out poped a lovely 9ct wedding band :):).
Also i found a nice little silver sixpence.   Happy huntting!!

Soft sand hunt before work.

Soft sand hunt at a north Auckland beach.

It just so happend that this morning I conveniently had to go and work next to a very productive beach north of Auckland, which I will not name :p.

6am I hit the beach running, with only 2hrs before work I had to be fast!  Since the tide was high, I could only hunt the soft sand. I started swinging away and straight away bang 4 coins in a row, then bottle top after f***ing bottle top, 20 minutes worth of bottle tops and I was back into the money at a steady rate and then, crap, had to go to work, back to reality.
Happy hunting!

Late night madness produces white gold!

Late night madness produces 9ct white gold !!

I must be crazy!!
last night I decided to catch the 2:57am low tide.
For those of you who dont know, the tides have been at their lowest for a while, and make for great detecting. So I just had to make the most of it.  After a mere 2 hr sleep I headed down to the beach at 1am, hugely sleep deprived .
Staggering down to the beach, I proceeded down to the water line which was about 150 mtrs away from my car, only to find that my detector batterys were flat, s**t.. so after heading back to the car for a fresh set of batteries and fending of the local saturday drunks, I was back into it.
I proceded to work the surf line, digging plenty of targets with a ratio of 80% keepers and 20% trash.
Just after 3am -  bingo a ring!  With excitement I bent down, only to be disapointed to discover it was stainless steel, bugger!  I proceeded to pluck a few more coins out of the sand and then I leaned down into my next hole to pick out what I thought was yet another coin... only to have my finger slip into a  ring!, yes a ring! - a beautiful 9ct white gold wedding band, a feeling I never tire of :).
